Juan Antonio contacted us to design a watch for his wife. He is a great watch collector, with pieces from well-known Swiss watchmakers, and he wanted to give his partner a quality watch that she could wear every day.
The first step, as always, was to study with the client which watch we wanted to use as a base. Being a watch for daily use, we needed it to meet three essential factors: durability, lightness and a timeless design that easily matches any style of clothing. The answer was clear, the Submariner perfectly met all of these. Its 316L stainless steel case and bracelet guarantee resistance to shocks, scratches and water, and all this with a weight of no more than 180 grams. On the other hand, Juan Antonio opted for the Starbucks, a classic and very versatile colour combination.
The design of the watch face was simple because the client had a very clear idea: he was looking for something simple but full of meaning. His partner, Angela Oliva, is often called by her diminutive ANOL by her close circle. It was more than clear: we had to crown the face with that nickname, which we finally accompanied with her full name at the bottom.
In order to keep it simple, we kept the lower part of the original design. We also opted for a simple typography, composed of straight lines, without other graphic resources.
The end result is a simple and discreet watch, with a timeless and very versatile design that we are sure Angela will enjoy for a long time.
