The Submariner is the most recognised watch today. It dates back to the 1950s and, as its name suggests, it was designed for divers. When you dive, it is important to know how much time you have left with your tank of air, but it is equally important to control the decompression times. As we dive into the sea, the pressure exerted by the water on our body increases. This leads to a compression of the nitrogen molecules which, if we rise too quickly, decompress, generating bubbles inside our body. The consequences can be fatal, so having a good measurement of time is crucial.
